Welcome to the new blog

I just upgraded our servers to a dedicated host – at our house.  The disadvantage is that it will be down during the night, many week-ends, and when we have a power failure.

I hope you enjoy the new appearance.  I wonder how long it will take for people to notice, though.

Blog is running again!

I am pleased to announce that after several hours of work and searching all over my computer for various backups, I have finally managed to restore most of the blog.  We’ll see how long it takes people to notice.   🙂

I think all of my posts are related to trouble-shooting this blog, so hopefully someone else will find this and post something more interesting.

A comment on comments not commenting

Good evening,

We have recently received some comments regarding an issue about the comments on the blog posts.  In certain circumstances, it is impossible to place a comment, and the blog just “hangs”.

I have reduced the issue down to an issue in the theme.  I am currently working on this issue, and will update this post as soon as everything is working again.  Thank you for your patience.

For those people who would still like to make a comment, there is a work-around currently available.  Click the name of the blog post (at the top of the post), and then add “?theme=Indigo” without quotes to the URL.  Example: to comment on this post, go to this URL: http://www.createdinchrist.com/Blog/post/A-comment-on-comments-not-commenting.aspx?theme=Indigo  The blog will look different, but it is the same blog.

Please note that the blog may have temporary outages or peculiar quircks as we attempt to resolve the issue.  I appologise for any inconvenience this has caused.

Upgrade underway

Hello!

I am presently upgrading our Blog, so if you are having problems, please check back soon.

Thank you!

Jonathan

*Edit:  I believe that the major bugs are gone now, but if you are still experiencing problems, please leave a comment so that I can work on it.  Thank you!

*Edit 2: I think it’s all set.  All that remains is those flags.  Let’s see if I can remember how to do that.

To the work!

It’s March, and we only got one update in last month.  Well, here is a little update of what we did last week.

We have gotten around to the wood finishing on the ceiling.  Of course, we started with varnishing.  Then we put up the first batch of boards:

Varnishing The first boards going up! David did most the nailing

Then we had to varnish more boards:

Varnishing a second time

We decided that it might be worth bringing up the radial arm saw, which Nathanael used very skillfully:

Bringing in the saw Nathanael cutting a board

Here’s what it looks like today!  About three-quarters of the wood is up:

Three quarters done!

But that is not all we have done: in the winter here we get snow, so we had to shovel:

Nathanael shoveling Jonathan shoveling David shoveling

And the younger ones made a snow man!  Get ready for the picture:

The photographer! And the picture

Well, I guess you can see that we’ve been busy.  Here are the lyrics to a hymn that talk about getting “To the Work”:

To the work! to the work! we are servants of God,
Let us follow the path that our Master has trod;
With the might of His power our strength to renew,
Let us do by His grace what He calls us to do.

To the work! to the work! let the hungry be fed;
To the fountain of life let the thirsty be led;
In the cross and its vict’ry our glory shall be,
While we herald the tidings, “Salvation is free!”

To the work! to the work! in the strength of the Lord,
By the pow’r of His Name, with the light of His Word,
All the slaves of the darkness of Satan set free
And His riches of grace in His glory we’ll see.

Let us keep busy with the Lord’s work until He comes again!

It’s High Time!

Despite the fact that it is the 20th of February, I am the first to post an update this month.  A lot has happened since the last time I posted.  My father and Elizabeth are back safely from Indianapolis.  I have heard many good things about the Father’s Conference and believe that it was a worth-while trip.

We have had a couple of families over recently for meals and fellowship:

Tables for 26 people! Friends

As well as our normal bi-weekly Thursday evening Bible study meetings:

Bible Study

We also had a men’s meeting early this month.  We are planning on hosting the Advanced Seminar in March.

The construction has also been progressing.  We have finished the gyp-rock in the big room:

Completed the plastering:

Plastering (1) Plastering Plastering (3)

And sanding:

A couple of base coats of paint were applied:

And the final off-white colour is done, too!

We’ve had another birthday:

Stephen's Birthday

Stephen likes broccoli, and even asked for it on (and in) his cake!  I figure I had better post a picture or two, or you won’t believe it:

We have some innovative and excellent cooks who are able to invent great tasting recipes with unusual ingredients!

I had better finish this post, and I thought these verses from Romans 13 might be appropriate based on the title I used:

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Busyness

Hello everybody!  After a long break with no posts, I decided that I should post something.  I thought that I might also mention that the lack of posts is not due to a lack of things to post, but for a lack of time to post them!

Things that we have done recently include Nathanael’s birthday:

Nathanael's Birthday (1) Nathanael's Birthday (2)

We have also done a little more gyprocking, but I don’t have any pictures right now.

On Wednesday, my father and sister left on a 16 hour journey to Indianapolis, Indiana.  My father was going to a Dad’s Conference, and Elizabeth to visit a friend:

Brushing the snow of the car. Suitcases, food, etc., is packed. They're off!

Bon voyage!

Bon Voyage!

I have been busy getting this site working to its full capacity.  A few things remain to be done, but I thought perhaps I would let you know that the Frazer Creations portion of the site is now working.  The only item under the Products menu remaining to be settled is the recommendations.  I’ll let you know when everything’s done!  Here is a picture of one of the favourite cards:

Card 06

One thing that I always have to remember when I am very busy is to keep my eyes focused in the right place: Jesus Christ.  If we fail to look to Him for our every need, we will be like Peter when he looked at the wind and waves instead of towards Christ.  We will then find ourselves desperately sinking into the things of this world, rather than walking through the storms on this earth towards the One Who will help us through every storm.

May God bless you!
