A trip to the Coaticook Gorge

Quebec is a beautiful place to live (or to visit). With a population density of less than six people per square kilometre, much of the land is virtually untouched by civilization and even down near the American border where the greatest number of people live, you don’t have to go far to find a sheltered spot where one can enjoy God’s creation without the distracting alterations man’s presence often creates.

We spent Mother’s Day afternoon in one such location: the Coaticook Gorge. Though it is a well-known tourist attraction, sporting the world’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge, as well as being a hydropower plant, this lovely park is a relatively easy place to forget that the city is right next door. My favourite spot on our hike was the place we could get right down on the river to skip stones and photograph the little waterfalls with a backdrop of jagged cliffs.

And yes, on May 11th, there was still snow around.

A few highlights from our time there…

And of course there are the photographer photos…

We look forward to more such family times.
